However, ITV bosses told the star her outfit's polka dot design was causing a "strobing" effect for viewers tuning in at home.

The bubbly host revealed: "Yikes! A quick outfit change since being on GMB earlier. Technical term - strobing."

With just 30 minutes to spare, telly fave Lorraine whipped off her spotty dress in favour of a jaw-dropping black and blue animal print frock - just in time for her live 9am broadcast.

She added: "I've got to do a very quick change because I've been told that my dress is making your telly go funny.

"I'm away to get changed, a last-minute quick dash. So if you think to yourself: 'Why is she wearing something else?' That's why."

Loyal fans rushed to social media with an outpouring of positive support.

As one wrote: "Wondered why you got changed. Where was the dress from? It's lovely and I want it."

Another said: "Dots are lovely, but unfortunately not good for the screen."

And a third added: "Shame you’re having to change your dress because you look absolutely gorgeous in polka dots."

On her show, Lorraine appeared devastated this morning after hearing Paul O'Grady had passed away overnight.

The TV presenter paid tribute to iconic drag act and TV star after his sudden death last night aged 67.
