A THIS Morning star grovelled to fans after making a major soap blunder as she announced a Coronation Street exit.

Todays show saw Sharon Marshall join Holly Willoughby and Joel Dommett to talk about all the latest goings on in soapland.

At one point, the soap expert informed viewers that Jodie Prenger was leaving her role as Glenda Shuttleworth in Coronation Street.

Jodie, 43, joined the ITV soap in June last year and made her on-screen debut in August.

However, This Morning soap expert Sharon had made a rare blunder and quickly took to Twitter to correct herself and apologise.

She tweeted: "I am the biggest idiot! The iconic Jodie Prenger is NOT leaving Corrie.

"Glenda is staying. I am so so sorry, I got my wires crossed. She is staying. She is fabulous! @thismorning."

A cheeky follower joked: "You said it again on itv+1" to which Sharon replied: "And I'm wrong again!!"

Another soap fan tweeted: "Omg sharon naughty step for you, love glenda."

Not afraid to mock herself and her mistake, Sharon replied: "Yes am sat on it now."

Others shared their relief that Sharon had got it wrong, with one writing: "Fab news I was gutted when you said she was leaving."

Another tweeted: "Oh good! I've really liked having her there. When she was "auditioning" for Daisy's wedding, too funny."

Meanwhile a third shared: "I'm glad to hear that she's staying. I do hope that when Daisy and Daniel can finally get married that Glenda can sing a few notes, maybe George can even join in."
