IT’S GASSER

Danny Dyer reveals Gazza’s disgusting habit during filming of new gameshow Scared of the Dark

HE was famous for crying when he played football, now Paul Gascoigne has got everyone else’s eyes watering – with his flatulence.

The England star, who became a household name when he sobbed during the Italia 90 World Cup, gassed his co-stars on new Channel 4 show, Scared Of The Dark.

Not only did this happen within an airtight set, one of the fellow celebrities on the programme is host Danny Dyer who’s not known for his diplomatic language.

He said: “He’s got a rotten arse, Paul.

“They all began to get immune to it, but I could f***ing taste it.

“It did smell in there, I’m not going to lie.

“Because it’s an enclosed space . . . you know what I mean?”

To make matters worse, Danny revealed some celebrities didn’t shower — after all they didn’t need to worry about their appearance due to the dark.

He added: “I think they just brushed their teeth, so you can imagine the food and the breath and the farting.

“And they all sleep on a big, round bed, and all their heads are in the middle and it all goes around clockwise.

“So, that’s going to be interesting to see.”

The show, which starts next month, sees a group of celebrities forced to live without any light in a small space where they complete tasks to win.

Aired over six nights, the line up includes boxer Nicola Adams, The Wanted singer Max George, Love Island’s Chloe Burrows and former Gogglebox fave Scarlett Moffatt.

According to Danny, Gazza is the most mischievous. He said: “Paul pulled a few pranks.

"I think he put a sandwich in someone’s bed — a nice little sandwich, they’re rolling around at night with a f***ing salmon or whatever the f*** it was.”

I’m not sure Gazza would have been brave enough to prank Danny if he was living inside with him 24/7.

GMB TOP SPOT FOR PROTESTS

GOOD Morning Britain is the nation’s top show for upsetting viewers, with 75,623 complaints to media watchdog Ofcom between 2020 and 2022.

That means 37 per cent of all complaints were about the ITV programme, and in more bad news for the channel, its shows took four of the top five spots for drawing protests.

Love Island was second, with 42,944, Britain’s Got Talent third with 29,000, and This Morning fourth with 9,811.

It’s no surprise to see Love Island on the list after the last two summer series were over-shadowed by bullying rows.

Last year the boys including Luca Bish and Adam Collard were accused of gaslighting, while in 2021 viewers were incensed by Faye Winter's treatment of her now ex, Teddy Soares.

Meanwhile Coronation Street was the most complained-about TV soap.

The big four

CHANNEL 4 has recruited four digital content whizzes as part of a talent search.

Simmie Kaur, Ruth Codd, Anisa Farah and Rhys Thomas will all help develop new formats for younger audiences.

They’re all big on TikTok and YouTube and Ruth will also appear in Celeb Cooking School.

VERA HAS FACED A COP CHOP

IT’S all change on Vera as ITV confirms the crime drama is returning for a 13th series following a cast shake-up.

Kenny Doughty, who played , announced his shock departure earlier this month.

And now Ibinabo Jack has quit as DC Jacqueline Williams due to her theatre commitments.

At least Brenda Blethyn is back as DCI Vera Stanhope herself, as is David Leon as DS Joe Ashworth.

Brenda says: “It’s been such a pleasure to work with Kenny and Ibinabo and I’ll miss them.”

A feature-length episode, The Rising Tide, will be Kenny and Ibinabo’s final appearance in the drama and will air later this year.

NEW GEN REJECTS FRIENDS

IT’S hard to imagine anyone feeling, err, unfriendly towards Friends.

But Jennifer Aniston has revealed the hit sitcom has had trouble winning over new generations – because youngsters find the jokes offensive.

Jen, who played Rachel Green, says: “Now you have to be very careful, which makes it hard for comedians, because the beauty of comedy is that we make fun of ourselves.

“You could joke about a bigot – that was funny. It was about educating people on how ridiculous people were. We’re not allowed to do that now.”

She continued: “There’s a generation of people who are going back to Friends and finding them offensive.

“There were unintentional things and others . . . well, we should have thought it through – but I don’t think there was a sensitivity like there is now.”

Which might be why good comedies are so hard to find.
