BBC News presenter fumes ‘turns out I’m doing an extra hour!’ after colleague fails to show up
A BBC News presenter was forced to present for an extra hour after her colleague failed to turn up.
Martine Croxall was hosting rolling coverage for the BBC News channel this morning.
The was rostered to bring viewers the latest news between 9am and 11am.
She was then due to take a break before reappearing once again on the BBC World News channel.
However, as the clock struck 11 Martine was forced to stay on air as her colleague failed to turn up.
Taking to social media, the journalist fumed: "Turns out I'm doing an extra hour - no-one arrived to receive the baton!"

She added that she thought she "better stay put" and read the headlines at the top of the hour.
But fans were left delighted she would continue to broadcast, with one saying: "As always the consummate professional I hope that we will see you when the new channel begins next week."
A second replied: "Excellent. You’re on as I pack for damp family holiday in Center Parcs!"
"I hope you can claim some over time for this. Double time", said a third.

A BBC News star was recently showered with support after she paid an emotional tribute to the show ahead of her last broadcast.
It was confirmed earlier this year that BBC News and BBC World News would be merging.
The move to combine its UK and International teams means a number of presenters have taken voluntary redundancy.
