Ever the consummate professional, Rachel said she tries her best to not react to the some of the more explicit words.

Rachel told The Sun: "I get to chose what I put on the board on Countdown, the whole idea is to pull a straight face.

"There are some really weird stuff that comes out but that's the fun of it."

She added: "Kids can watch but anyone with my kind of dirty sense of humour can watch."

Rachel - who shared daughters Noa, one and Maven, two with husband Pasha Kovalev - said she accidentally taught her little girl some naughty words over the winter.

"I taught Maven some bad language during the football," Rachel laughed.

Over the years Rachel has left fans red-faced with some of the cheeky phrases.

The star, who has been co-presenting Countdown for over a decade, once treated fans to a selection of the naughtiest words to have ever appeared on the show.

The cringeworthy letters which are picked at random included, "erection", "shags", "todgers", "vaginas", "orgasms" and, most bizarrely of all, "OK I squirt".

Other rude words picked by contestants include "bumhole", ""perverts", "p***", "sugar t***" and "no panties".

She also grimaced when she spotted the words "jizz" and "louder" put together in sequence.

Rachel first joined Countdown in 2009 when she was 22 - having only just graduated from the University of Oxford.
