FREDDIE BAILS OUT

Andrew Flintoff will not return to BBC series this year as he recovers from horror car crash

FREDDIE Flintoff’s Field Of Dreams telly show will not return this year as he recovers from his horror Top Gear car crash.

The presenter, 45, had planned to film the second series of the BBC cricket show this spring.

But crew have been told that production has been postponed.

During filming for Top Gear in December Freddie suffered serious injuries.

He was flown to hospital after he flipped a three-wheel open-top Morgan Super 3 in subzero temperatures at Surrey’s Dunsfold Aerodrome.

He has since quit the motor show.

A source said: “Freddie loved Field Of Dreams and was looking forward to filming a second series, but it is unlikely to film any time soon and won’t make it to air this year. Crew are looking for other work — the whole show centres around Freddie.

“The Top Gear incident was very serious, he is convalescing.”

More than 3.3million tuned in to see the ex-England cricketer’s efforts at getting children from his home city Preston interested in the game.

Ashes legend Freddie, real name Andrew, was on a mission to convince them the sport is not solely played by posh people.

He formed a team of youngsters and took on an elite private school and veterans.

Spokesmen for Flintoff and the BBC both declined to comment.
