During Thursday's episode the remaining hopefuls had to cook two courses.

As they started prepping their meals, Robin revealed he was going to use cornflakes for his dish.

The children's rights officer said: "So today I'm cooking two courses with the theme of corn.

"For my second course I'm making a corn cereal steeped panna cotta with a corn cereal crumb."

Judge John Torode then asked him: "You like breakfast cereal then, Robin?"

Smiling, he replied: "I do like breakfast cereal."

However, MasterChef viewers at home were left seriously baffled that Robin appeared to have been 'banned' from simply saying the word cornflakes.

One said: "Corn cereal....you mean cornflake."

A second said: "You can say corn flakes - it’s not a trade name like Marmite which is usually described on TV as yeast extract…"

"STRONG opening with robin not being allowed to say cornflakes on tv," said a third.

While a fourth commented: "#MasterChef Why can't they say 'cornflake'?"

Meanwhile, the same episode saw John and Gregg slam a contestant for an 'undercooked' dish.

For Chris' desert, he had planned to serve an Asian pear poached in mulled wine with lemon thyme Chantilly cream.

Despite Gregg warning the chef that he needed to cook the pear for 15 minutes, it was served undercooked.

"I'm chasing my pear around the plate because it's not cooked enough," fumed John.

While Greg added: "That cream is sweetened and I like the lemon thyme going through it

"But that pear is still hard."
