UNLUCKY in love Amy Christophers didn’t find lasting romance on Married At First Sight - but the reunion show brought an unexpected surprise.

The sports presenter, 36, shared a cheeky kiss with Johnathan Wileman, who had split from his wife Sophie Brown.

But in an exclusive chat with The Sun, Amy claims she was stunned by the reaction to their smooch - especially from her fellow castmates.

After it aired, Sophie and fellow MAFS star Adrian Sanderson started an Instagram Live, which Amy claims led to her receiving “horrific body shaming” comments.

Amy decided to share her story after Sophie told The Sun she's constantly bombarded by fat-shaming trolls obsessing over her fluctuating figure.

Describing the Instagram Live as an “unprovoked attack” against her, Amy says: “It wasn’t pleasant to watch.

“Sophie and Adrian didn’t read out the comments but [people watching] said things like, ‘She’s bigger than you, I thought Johnathan didn’t like bigger girls’.

“They were sniggering and agreeing... Adrian was laughing and said some [comments] were so bad that he couldn’t read them out loud.

“Sophie’s never apologised or reached out to me and when I spoke to Adrian, he said he didn’t see any of the comments... I saw it with my own eyes.

“I think it was a really low blow from Sophie and for someone that likes to think they promote body positivity, it was clear as day she was not doing that.”

Ahead of the episode airing, Amy had braced herself for a potentially negative response from fans, but says she never expected such hurtful comments.

The TV star felt especially hard done by because she didn’t know Sophie and believed she and Johnathan were civil.

Amy says: “Me and Johnathan were only getting to know each other and there was a mutual attraction there.

“I understand it must have been hard for Sophie to watch but she and Johnathan ended on good terms.

"They had mutual respect, they accepted they weren’t each other’s person and no one was hung up on the other.

“While it can’t be nice seeing someone you once cared about kissing someone else, I didn’t know Sophie and I’d never spoken to her."

Amy claims the "horrible" comments she received during the Instagram Live had a negative impact on her mental health.

She says she was “bombarded” with messages and nasty comments on her pictures, which dented her confidence and led to her “coming off social media for a week”.

Amy believes they should have had a moderator to remove them, adding: "Comments like that make you question yourself and knock you for six. I had to work really hard to get my body confidence back."

'Karma'

Amy says she hopes Sophie has “learned her lesson” after suffering trolling of her own online, and called it “karma”.

She adds: “Now that she’s on the receiving end, I hope she understands and thinks twice before she ever does something like that again.

“I hope she’s learned her lesson and maybe it took a bit of karma for her to realise that. I don’t wish anything bad on her and if we met in person I’d hope we could be civil.

“I’m not someone who likes holding grudges but I will make people accountable for their actions.”

'Proud of my curves'

It’s not the first time Amy has had to endure rude remarks about her size.

She says: “Quite a lot of people who meet me in real life are like, ‘Oh my God, you’re tiny. You’ve lost so much weight since the show.’

“And I’m like, ‘I haven’t actually lost any weight, I’m around the same size’. I may go up or down a dress size but I haven’t drastically changed.

“I’m curvy and unfortunately, not a lot of clothes are flattering towards women with big boobs and big bums, they can make you look bigger.

“I’ve never had any guys complain about my curves and am very proud to be a curvy girl, my curves got me through ten years of glamour modelling.

“As a society, we need to stop making comments about size.”

'Toxic' couple

Speaking about her time on MAFS, Amy admits she fell in love with husband Joshua Christie "within a week”, and doesn’t believe the way the show was edited accurately reflected their relationship.

She says: “Most of the time Josh and I were laughing and having a joke.

"Even the production team were like, ‘You’re the fun ones, we love to film with you because you’re jokes’.

“But from the edits, you would think we were a toxic couple. It wasn’t like that at all and we had a really good time.

“We had our little bickers but we are very strong personalities so it’s not always going to be plain sailing."

Amy also revealed she had a “secret hen do” two days before her MAFS wedding while she was in a hotel - with plenty of booze and willy straws.

“My friends ordered loads of things and had them delivered to me for my hen party, which took place on Zoom,” she recalls.

“We were all getting drunk, they ordered loads of alcohol to my room. It was really cute to have that before getting married.”

On their big day, Amy claims her MAFS husband was confused about her age and made a few funny faux pas.

She says: “Josh actually thought my cousin was my dad and my best friend was my mum. Then his family thought my mum was my nan.

“I was like, ‘How old do you think I am?’ He thought I was 20.”

'Love bombed'

While her MAFS romance didn't work out, it hasn’t put Amy off dating - despite a few creepy messages on social media.

“I had a lot of older guys being like, ‘You need a real man’ but it was a no from me because they were old enough to be my dad,” she says.

Amy claims being candid on MAFS led to her becoming a victim of ‘love bombing’ - when a person uses extreme displays of affection or attention to manipulate someone’s feelings.

She says: “When you go on a show like that, you leave yourself so vulnerable by letting out your demons and insecurities and your hopes and wishes for the future.

“It leaves you so open to love bombing and unfortunately I did experience that.

";Someone came into my life, flipped my world upside down and it was over within a few months.”

Amy, who refuses to name the mystery man, says she was “quite burnt” by the experience and claims he used things she said on MAFS against her.

She says: “He used to bring up things Josh and I would argue about and would say what Josh would say, despite claiming he hadn’t watched MAFS.

“If we argued, he’d be like, ‘It’s your mood swings’ but I didn’t have any while I was with him, I’d been chill as f*** and the chillest I’d been with any guy.”

'Psychic matchmaker'

While Amy jokingly moans she'll be “single forever” she fears it could be harder to find someone since her recent move to Cornwall.

But if the stars align, love could still be on the cards for Amy - according to a psychic who gave her insight into her ‘perfect man’.

She believes the premonition could be true after they correctly predicted "the whole MAFS thing and described what Josh was like” before she went on the show.

Amy adds: “I’m still waiting for ‘the man in bad, black shoes’. One of my exes had these disgusting winklepickers but they were brown, so the wrong colour.

“The man of my dreams could still be out there but I’m not going to go round looking at shoes like, ‘Hey, you’ve got horrible shoes, you may be the man for me!’”

She adds in jest: “Men should stop sending pictures of their d***s and start sending pictures of their shoes instead.”

Away from her love life, Amy continues to work as a sports presenter and has met a range of famous athletes including Tommy Fury

She’s hoping to work with Plymouth Argyle F.C. next season and later this month is a presenter at the football fundraiser GOALS 4 G.O.S.H (Great Ormond Street Hospital).

Amy is excited for summer after making holiday plans and isn't ruling out romance while she's abroad.

She adds: “I love life, it would be pretty great to find someone on the same wavelength to enjoy it with.”
