THIS Morning regular Sharon Marshall was missing from her regular slot on today's show.

It follows the dramatic departure of Phillip Schofield as Holly Willoughby's co-host following their off-air feud.

Alerting fans to her planned absence, Sharon said before the show: "No soapbox today, as busy preparing material for next week’s This Morning super soap week ahead of the British Soap Awards.

"We’ll be chatting to the biggest names in soap ahead of the big night x."

Phillip revealed on Saturday he was leaving This Morning with immediate effect after a fall-out with Holly, his co-host of 14 years.

He said about stepping down: “ITV has decided the current situation can’t go on, and I want to do what I can to protect the show that I love.”

The presenter insisted he would be back at ITV hosting the British Soap Awards on June 3.

But The Sun revealed his comeback is already under threat, with bookies claiming he's odds-on at 4/6 not to host the annual event he's fronted since 2006.

Meanwhile soap screen-writer Sharon is set to return to the This Morning sofa next week.

She's been an expert on This Morning covering the likes of Coronation Street, EastEnders and Emmerdale since 2003.

An ITV spokesman said: "Phillip Schofield’s decision to step down from This Morning was (as his statement made clear) a decision agreed between Phillip and ITV."
