Jane McDonald stuns in red velvet gown as she replaces Phillip Schofield as British Soap Awards host
JANE McDonald stunned in a red velvet gown as she replaced Phillip Schofield as the British Soap Awards host.
Earlier this week, The Sun exclusively revealed how Jane, 60, had stepped in to host the annual ceremony for the first time after Phillip, 61, announced he had quit ITV entirely and the award show, which he has hosted since 2006.
Jane pulled out all the stops for her hosting role, showing off her enviable figure in a close-fitting deep red velvet gown.
It featured a slightly off the shoulder neckline and three-quarter length sleeves.
Her glam look was in keeping with the soap stars themselves, who wore striking gowns on the red carpet as they arrived on Saturday evening.
The much-loved star is best known for her Channel 5 series Cruising With Jane and her previous role on ITV's Loose Women.

Ahead of hosting the awards, Jane said: “Oh my god...everyone knows how much I LOVE my soaps, this year I’ve been honoured to be mentioned in Corrie, EastEnders and Emmerdale, so this is just a dream come true.
"I can’t wait to see all our wonderful soap nominees and celebrate all their hard work with them - roll on the awards, I can’t wait.”
Last week Phillip made the shock decision to quit the awards show after it was revealed he had an affair with a much younger male ITV employee – just a week after he was dropped from This Morning.
Following her announcement as host, Jane took to social media to further share her excitement with fans.
