There was a tense moment when George appeared to stutter when asked if Jess was the girl he originally had his eye on.
Later, Jess confirmed they were not a match made in heaven and stepped forward to swap out of her couple.
Describing what she will bring to the villa before her entrance, Jess said: "Firstly I think I’ve got quite a big personality and I’ve got a heart of gold. I can stand up for myself if I need to. I’m honest, and I love, love. I’m also a really good girlfriend."
Whilst George said of her perfect girl: "I prefer a girl who is naturally good looking, and someone who has even more banter than me- although I don’t believe that’s physically possible."
Molly Marsh and Mitchel Taylor
21 year old musical theatre star Molly found herself matched up with hunky Mitchel, a 26 year old gas engineer from Sheffield.
Molly and Mitchel looked more than happy to be paired up with one another.
A spanner appeared to be thrown in the works on the very first night when Jess was asked which Islander she believed was boyfriend material.
Rather than choosing her own partner, Jess declared that it was Mitchel that she thought could be the ideal partner.
Molly is hoping to find someone to settle down with, during her time in the Love Island villa.
She told ITV: "I don’t go out and party and I don’t use dating apps, I’m actually quite old-fashioned, so there’s no better way to meet someone than by going into a Villa in the sun with the potential ‘one’ in there.
"I think it’s ideal timing and the perfect way to find someone."
Catherine Agbaje and André Furtardo
Flirty estate agent Catherine, 22, will be hoping romance blossoms with her match, 21 year old business owner André .
When Maya asked the 22 year old from Ireland if she was happy with her match, she insisted she most definitely was.
It appeared that she had her hopes high for the match when she admitted that Andre was in her top two for who she fancied the most.
Tasked with snogging the boys that caught her eye the most, she planted a kiss on both Andre as well as fellow Islander Tyrique.
Ruchee Gurung and Mehdi Edno
24 year old beautician Ruchee has found herself in a couple with Frenchman Mehdi Edno, 26.
Mehdi is hoping to replicate the success of last year's winner with insiders tipping him to be the next Davide Sanclimenti.
Ruchee and Mehdi were left beaming at one another as he said to her: "Very cute, ooh la la!"
However later, she decided there wasn't much of a spark and stepped forward to leave her couple.
Ella Thomas and Tyrique Hyde
Ella and Tyrique, both 23, appear to be a match made in heaven on paper.
She's a supermodel and he's a semi-pro footballer and are both sure to be head turners on the show.
Instantly, Ella was left whispering to him as she asked: "Do you remember that we've met before?"
However, he was left none the wiser
