Mark Wright’s dad chokes up as he fights back tears over son’s ‘nervous breakdown’
MARK Wright’s dad choked up as he fought back tears over his son’s “nervous breakdown”.
Mark Senior – also known as Big Mark Wright – opened up about his professional footballer son Josh on This Morning.
He was on the famous sofa with his sons Mark and Josh to talk about their new BBC reality show, A Wright Family Holiday.
“Josh, he was on the verge…” said Mark Sr before breaking off.
“Sorry I’m getting a bit…”
Mark trailed off as he became overwhelmed with emotion before bravely continuing.
He said: “He was on the verge of a nervous breakdown, a mental breakdown.. I had no idea.
“Me and my wife Carol had no idea what he was going through.
We knew he had one or two problems trying to find another club, but when it came out, it was crazy.”
Mark Jr went on to explain how much footballers are affected by mental health as they fear a future without playing.
He said: “He broke down, you’ll see it in one of the episodes, it was a really sad moment.”
A Wright Family Holiday sees Mark, Josh and their dad visit hotspots across the UK to go head-to-head in activities including coasteering in Newquay, go-karting in Llandudno, kite-surfing in County Down and downhill biking in the Scottish Highlands.
