Coronation Street’s Aaron Sandford star breaks silence on ‘very sad’ soap axe
CORONATION Street's Aaron Sandford star has broken his silence on his 'very sad' soap axe.
Viewers of the long running ITV soap watched as Aaron came to terms with the fact he raped Amy Barlow.
The character, played by James Craven, raped Amy in harrowing scenes back in March.
Despite reporting the assault to the police, Amy was left crushed when they were informed there was insufficient evidence to continue the case.
Recently the mechanic had planned to sue Amy and her family for libel.
But emotional scenes saw Aaron tell the teen he was planning on dropping the case as her family scrambled to raise the cash for legal costs.

However, he stopped short at confessing what he did before he left Weatherfield for good.
Speaking now about his departure from Coronation Street, James said: "It’s obviously very sad, it's been a lot of fun and I’ve really, really loved my time there.
"I met so many great people and I've made so many good friends for life.
"But I'm excited, I'm really, really excited to get on and go on and do other things."

He added to the Mirror how Amy didn't get the "closure she deserves".
In an attempt to make peace with her pain and bring justice the authorities failed to bring her, Amy had exposed the lad in a social media post.
While she had the full support of her parents, Steve McDonald and Tracy Barlow, Amy was immediately issued with a legal threat by Aaron's father Eric.
Despite what a libel case could cost them, Steve and Tracy (portrayed respectively by and ) had agreed to fight it all the way through.
