Cindy was seen lounging by a pool in France as her mobile phone rang, with estranged husband George Knight's name appearing on screen.

Not only that, but Cindy is also back together with ex-husband Ian - played by Adam - despite the fact she tried to have him killed off by a hitman and the pair battling it out over custody of their twins.

As the epic 'duff duff' aired, pictures of Michelle, 61, and Adam, 54, together in London have emerged.

The actors were seen catching up outside a hotel in central London, and looked delighted to be in each other's company again.

Michelle wore an all black ensemble including a blazer, slim fit jeans and a low cut top.

Meanwhile Adam opted for grey trousers and a black polo shirt.

Speaking about working together again during a press event for their surprise return, Adam told The Sun Online and other media: "No offence but working with Michelle has been like putting on an old pair of slippers. It’s comfortable. It just works."

Adam, who has been away from EastEnders for two years, added: "The weirdest thing for me that since I’ve been gone they’ve rebuilt the lot. I got out of the car yesterday morning and gone ‘where’s the Square?’ It’s just disappeared.

"But the nicest thing is just going back to see all the faces. The first day in ‘France’ it must have taken half a day to say hello to everyone.

"I’m amazed we got anything filmed that first morning because I was just chatting."

Meanwhile Michelle said: "The hardest thing has been not being able to tell anybody. And I’ve always had since 26 years ago ‘when are you going back?’ And now it’s like I am going back. It’s actually happening and I couldn’t tell anyone.

"I’ve always played really strong women. And Cindy was. And I’ve never got rid of Cindy and even younger people know who she was - but I suppose that’s the power of social media. It’s 26 years later and she’s been through quite a lot."
