Grand Designs’ iconic ‘bendy’ wooden house finally hits the market for eye-watering sum
ONE of the most iconic homes on Grand Design has been put up for sale for a staggering asking price.
The bendy wooden home, made out of steamed wood, which featured on the Channel 4 programme is now up for sale for the price tag of £1.65m.
The creative design is owned by Tom and Danielle Raffield in an area called Traverno in Helston, Cornwall.
The unique build, which was completed in 2016, was designed by the pair to transform the 19th century Grade II listed gamekeeper's cottage into a family home.
The hit Channel 4 programme, presented by Kevin McCLoud, was being heavily documented by the Grand Design team, as they collected timber from their woodland and rocks from the excavation site.
The couple used an uncommon technique to bend the wood that would be attached to the original cottage using a glass walkway.

Sat in 4.6 acres of woodland, the property boasts of six bedroom, three bathrooms and three reception rooms.
Tom Raffield said: "Our home is a low impact property, built from the materials that surround us, using resources from our local area, heated using ground source."
He added: ""The Old Game Keepers Lodge has won sustainability awards for best contribution to the built environment."
He went on to say: "But at the heart of this home things are much more simple, it's about connections, family and friends. Designed for the time we spend together, this house is a retreat, a little slice of woodland paradise."
