Fate of ITV’s Van Der Valk ‘revealed’ after fans ripped into latest series
DRAMA Van Der Valk has been causing drama among viewers with the show’s fate now revealed after the latest outing of the series divided onlookers.
The ITV show set in Amsterdam recently returned for its third season, last month but will the reboot of the 70s detective show make it to another?
The show stars Marc Warren and Maimie McCoy, among other talent, and ended last weekend.
On the final episode, one viewer tweeted: “I really don’t know why I bother with this show. It’s bloody rubbish, tbh.”
A later spectator to the show said: “Catching up with #VanDerValk on #itv, what a pile of nonsense! and that’s being polite.”
But lead Marc continued to be a hit: “Good Sunday night viewing but some of the acting and script is dreadful. Marc Warren is excellent as #VanDerValk.”
While another added: “Come on ITV, hope you commission another series of Van Der Valk 3 episodes just ain’t enough.”
It looks like some viewers’ comments have been answered, as the Dutch detective has been teased to be coming for a fourth season.
Although ITV is yet to officially announce if the show is returning, has reported that an online production listing points to the team reuniting for another show cycle.
Adding that, it will go into production this Spring, with season four set to air next year.
The third season followed detective Piet Van der Valk (Warren) and Inspector Lucienne Hassell (McCoy) as they solved new cases involving drug smuggling, a cold case dating back 20 years and a supernatural killing.
The Hustle and Snatch star Marc had previously told that he’d “certainly be interested in doing” another series, so fans will have to keep a watchful eye out for more news.
