So jungle bosses are thrilled he’s finally entered talks to head Down Under after years at the top of their wishlist.

A source said: “Tyrone is one of Corrie’s most-loved characters so Alan comes with a ready-made fan base.

“Sometimes soap actors who are known for their iconic roles don’t quite translate once in camp - Adam Woodyatt being one recent example.

“But Alan is a top lad with bags of personality so ITV are over the moon he’s in talks to join their 2023 cast.”

In recent years Alan has undergone a body transformation following his divorce from fellow Corrie star Lucy-Jo Hudson in 2018.

He shocked fans when he stripped off for a topless photo on holiday in Ibiza and revealed a set of rippling abs.

The source added: “I’m A Celeb viewers love a jungle shower surprise and Alan is hiding a killer bod under Tyrone’s oil-streaked mechanic overalls.

“Alan might be 40 but he easily ticks the soap hunk box, too.”

An I’m A Celebrity spokesman said: “Any names suggested at this stage are speculation.”

Alan has handled a raft of tough storylines during his time on the hit soap, with his troubled love life providing endless drama.

Tyrone’s first love was Maria Sutherland (Samia Ghadie), who he proposed to at the top of the Blackpool Tower in 2000.

They were engaged twice, but never made it to the altar and Tyrone broke it off for the last time in 2006.

In 2008, he bought 9 Coronation Street from the Duckworths for himself and new woman Molly Compton (Vicky Binns), who he married the following year.

They had a son together, Jack, who was three months old when Molly - hours before her death in a tram crash - confessed to Tyrone that he was another man’s son.

At her funeral, Tyrone handed Jack over to his real father - Kevin Webster, his best pal and boss at the garage.

His next big relationship was with policewoman Kirsty Soames (Natalie Gumede), who subjected Tyrone to months of physical and emotional abuse

Following the ordeal Tyrone reunited with his on-off love Fiz Brown (Jennie McAlpine) and the pair made a life for themselves in the street.

The pair have been likened to Corrie legends Jack and Vera Duckworth - played by the late Bill Tarmey and Liz Dawn.

Off-screen, Alan’s love life has been a little more stable.

He married Corrie co-star Lucy-Jo in 2009 after four years of dating and in 2013 they welcomed daughter Sienna-Rae.

But five years later they divorced and Alan is now in a relationship with another Corrie star, Tisha Merry, 30.

She played Steph Britton from 2013 until 2018 but now works as a travel agent.
