Ron has been caring for his wife, who suffers with dementia, for seven years

In the latest episode of the medical documentary, viewers learn he has been suffering from chest pains and struggling to sleep since his accident.

The devoted hubby’s health deteriorated while caring for his wife Cindy for seven years after she was diagnosed with dementia.

Family friend Andra shared that Ron usually wouldn’t go to hospital “even if he was suffering from a heart attack” because he puts other people first.

The couple have been married for 57 years, and Andra called them a “match made in heaven”.

Ron was determined to look after Cindy as her dementia worsened, doing everything he could to prevent handing her over to professional carers.

Andra believes this has taken a toll on him, and said: “The hardest time for Ron has been the past year.

“She should have been in 24 hour care, but Ron was determined to keep on supporting her.

“It’s heartbreaking to see what it’s doing to Ron’s health.

“It was too much for him mentally and physically so Cindy eventually went into a care home. Nobody wants to see someone they love go into a care home, but sometimes it’s the best place for them.”

The ex-lorry driver started experiencing a brain bleed while in A&E, and became frightened, telling the nurse he was “done for”.

Thankfully the hospital’s good care allowed him to recover and go home after two weeks.

One fan of the Channel 4 series took to social media to write: “24 Hours in A&E making me well up!”

Another added: “24 hours in A&E is always so emotional.”
