The story in question was relating to the soaring costs to repair a walkway in Lincoln.

Known as the 'Glory Hole', the riverside footpath's estimated repair costs have come in between £60,000 and £100,000.

However, Peter found himself unable to compose himself as he delivered the report on the interestingly named path.

The broadcaster said: "Now, it's estimated that the bill to repair Lincoln's Glory Hole, will be..."

Peter had a brief pause where his usual serious manner appeared to wilt as he realised the rude connotations of what he had just said.

A smile shot across his face as he attempted to carry on by saying, "will be anything from sixty..."

Once again, Peter began to giggle as he read out the predicted costs for the replacement.

As he continued to giggle, the BBC cut to shots of the 'Glory Hole' as Peter told viewers about how long it had been closed to the public all whilst enjoying a giggle or two along the way.

Fans were left laughing along with Peter as many went on to brand him a "legend" online.

One viewer wrote: "Peter Levy! What a man being able to get through that. Legend!"

Another added: "@peter_levy is truly a national treasure."

As a third penned: "Thanks gents, the funniest thing I’ve seen today."

The historic walkway has been closed since February of this year after fractured wooden beams began to fall.

Lincolnshire County Council have said how difficulties accessing the site has been detrimental in repairing the walkway sooner and says repair costs have been driven up after having to employ specialist divers and make use of floating platoons in order to carry out the maintenance work.

The closure of the walkway has also left many local businesses impacts as customers are no longer walking past their premises.
