Horrific homophobic attack left me shaken, scarred and fearing drunken thugs, says Dancing On Ice star

DANCING On Ice star The Vivienne has spoken out about being left scarred by an horrific homophobic attack.

The Drag Race winner was left shaken and hiding from drunken thugs after being attacked in McDonald's.

The Vivienne, whose real name is James Lee Williams, claimed she was assaulted in front of kids at the fast food chain in June.

Merseyside Police are continuing investigations, as The Vivienne praised their "fantastic work".

At the time, she branded her alleged attacker a "piece of s***", telling fans: "Just been attacked in McDonald’s, police on way.

"Homophobia alive and well folks!

"First time I’ve never retaliated in a fight because I’m not gonna punch somebody in front of kids and women."

The Vivienne told This Morning today: "It's an ongoing investigation by the police who have been fantastic, by the way.

"It was in broad daylight. I wasn't dressed in drag and was stood getting a burger and what happened, happened.

"It did shake me up a little bit. From a young age I've always been so confident and didn't care what people thought.

"After the attack I was like 'oh I'm fine, I've dealt with this for years', but then later I would go to wait for a train and I'd be hiding around the corner.

"It did shake me up a little bit.

"We all think 'oh we're strong, we can get through anything' but about a week later I was getting the train up to London and there was a big group of lads who had been out.

"I found myself, for the first time in my life ever, hiding around the corner to wait for the train.

"It was in that moment I thought 'wow that really has affected me'.

"You know, I'll be fine and get through it, but I am glad it happened to me who is able to deal with it and not say a 15 or 16 year old gay youth who's coming to terms with themselves. It could really affect them for life."

The Vivienne ended up in the final of Dancing On Ice after competing on RuPaul's Drag Race UK series in 2019.
