BBC Breakfast’s Sally Nugent sips champagne on girls’ holiday to celebrate birthday as she’s replaced on show
BBC Breakfast’s Sally Nugent toasted her birthday with a glass of champagne during a girls’ holiday as she’s replaced on the show.
The journalist has been missing from BBC Breakfast so far this week, and now she has revealed why.
Taking to her Instagram page, Sally posted a snap with her girlfriends as they enjoyed a sunshine break to an undisclosed location.
All of them clutched champagne flutes, with Sally sitting at the front in a pretty white dress with hot pink trim.
A pool and palm trees could be seen behind the group and Sally captioned the picture: “When you say you want a low key birthday.
And everyone knows you don’t really mean it.
“Thank you to lovely friends here and at home for making it so special xxxx.”
Sally celebrated her 52nd birthday on August 5, and she was sent sweet messages from her BBC Breakfast co-stars past and present.
Co-host Jon Kay wrote: “Just perfect x”.
Steph McGovern – who used to work on the show – added: “Happy Birthday gorgeous” alongside three love heart emojis.
Sally’s girls trip comes months after it was revealed she had split from husband Gavin Hawthorn after 13 years of marriage.
The pair share a teenage son, but it was reported they had been “moving in different directions” in the months leading up to the split, although it was described as “amicable”.
Meanwhile Jon, 53, was back on the BBC Breakfast sofa today alongside Rachel Burden.
Rachel, 48, showed off her new fringe and looked summery in a yellow dress, while Jon looked as smart as ever in his blue suit and patterned tie.
BBC Breakfast airs daily from 6am on BBC One.
