The actress became overwhelmed as she admitted that her confidence had taken a big hit since becoming a mum to her baby daughter Bonnie.

As she fought back tears, Amy confessed to Celebrity MasterChef judge Gregg Wallace that she has 'lost her nerve' now work has taken a backseat.

Gregg had asked: "What are you doing here on MasterChef?"

Replying, Amy said: "I want to... oh God, I'm going to get emotional.

"I want to prove to myself that I can do something good. I don't know why I'm crying..."

She continued: "I think you just lose your nerve and forget who you are when you've been away from all that.

"This opportunity came and I could have run a mile.

"I'm so out of the work game and so in a tracksuit in the play pen with my baby 90 per cent of the time and eating baked potatoes because that's easier."

Gregg looked on sympathetically as Amy opened up to him.

Giving her a confidence boost, he told the mum-of-one: "I want to tell you right now, I'm impressed by you."

He added: "Amy keep going - this looks and smells great,"

Fans were taken by Amy's honesty and were quick to comment on X, formerly known as Twitter.

One wrote: "Amy, she's my star already."

Another added: "Loving Amy on #celebritymasterchef. She was always great as tracey in #emmerdale."

And someone else even said: "Amy Walsh to win!"

Amy impressed the judges with her dishes of butter chicken curry and mango lassi posset. It earned her a place in the next round.

Meanwhile, the star and her EastEnders actor partner Toby-Alexander Smith welcomed Bonnie into the world in December 2021.

Amy later revealed that Bonnie's birth was not easy.

During an appearance on Loose Women, she said: "Yeah, it was tough. It wasn't easy at all. I kind of prepared myself for the worst but it was worse than the worst.

"I had to be induced for various reasons and risk of infection which obviously just catapults you doesn't it. The contractions were going fast but I wasn't dilating.
