THE past came back to haunt Bobby Beale this week following Cindy Beale's return to the Square.

And as hints of a potential revenge from the villainess are dropped left, right and centre, EastEnders fans expect another huge return.

Bobby Beale (played by Clay Milner Russell) panicked after the blonde bombshell (Michelle Collins) returned from the dead and came back to Walford earlier this week.

All hell broke loose in The Vic as Cindy was reunited with her two daughters, Anna and Gina, during the former's birthday party.

While Anna decided to hear Cindy out, Gina was less forgiving and eventually turned to drugs to numb out her pain before being taken to hospital following an overdose horror.

The Knights and Bobby, who has grown close to Anna since her first arrival, were all in hospital during last night's instalment of the BBC One soap (Thursday, August 31, 2023).

They were joined by both Cindy and her husband Ian Beale.

This paved the way for an awkward encounter between Cindy and Bobby as he famously killed her daughter Lucy Beale in April, 2014.

Cindy was initially polite with Bobby before turning to Ian, seething, demanding to know why he was in hospital in the first place.

While Ian reminded her she'd acknowledged the death was an accident, Cindy's clear resentment towards Bobby has led fans to think she may be waiting for the right moment to avenge her late daughter.

Many viewers took to X aka Twitter to share their expectations as Bobby is walking on eggshells with Cindy.

"It's only a matter of time. Bobby killed Cindy's daughter. *Any* mother will, ultimately, want revenge", one of them penned as another agreed: "Is she playing the long game? Possibly."

"Cindy wants revenge on Bobby and you can't blame her. This poor Bobby narrative is nonsense. Cindy daughter is dead of course the mother is angry. Cindy will play long game but she is coming for Bobby probably before year over", another viewer echoed.

But with the shadow of potential revenge looming over him, Bobby could benefit from another shocking return.

Following the recent string of explosive returns, viewers of the London-based drama are demanding soap bosses bring back his adoptive mother, Jane Beale.

"After the last of this week's EastEnders episodes, it's clear Cindy shouldn't be left alone with Bobby, so can we have Jane back next please?", one asked.

Another viewer continued: "Ian told Bobby that Cindy knew and that it was an accident and that she’s had to time to take it in, but Cindy could have been lying, taking her time to get revenge. We don’t know what Ian has told her specifically.”

"Calling it now Jane going to arrive back Christmas Day while the Beale’s are all sitting around for their Christmas dinner."

"Bobby needs Jane more than ever", one fan tweeted as a final wrote: "Jane will be turning up in a f*****g minute."

Jane Beale née Jane Clarke was one of Ian's ex-wives portrayed by actress Laurie Brett.

She left Albert Square in October, 2017, forced to flee by Max Branning who had threatened her.

When Bobby killed Lucy by bludgeoning her with her own music box, Jane disposed of the young woman's body in Walford Common before convincing the then-eleven-year-old he hadn't killed his half-sister.

She covered for Bobby for several months before telling Ian the truth and the pair of them decided to keep Bobby's secret - until he confessed in 2016.

Jane ultimately enabled Bobby's increasingly violent behaviour but could she be called back to protect him once again - particularly as Max Branning himself left Walford in early 2021?
