But Steffan recently appeared in Game of Thrones spin-off House of the Dragon as Hobert Hightower.

The second season of the fantasy drama will debut on Sky Atlantic in 2024 but it’s unknown if Steffan’s character will be returning.

Dave made his first Gavin and Stacey appearance in the very first episode when Stacey [Joanna Page] travels to London to meet Gavin [Mathew Horne].

During the 2008 Christmas special Dave proposed to Nessa, with them planning the wedding throughout the following series.

But Smithy [James Corden] showed up to stop the wedding – and Dave eventually called it off.

After his iconic role in the comedy he went on to appear in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1 as Reg Cattermole.

Steffan previously opened up about the attention he receives after playing Dave, saying: “I love it.”

He told : “On the whole it’s almost an entirely positive thing [fans’ reaction], the attention is great if I can move away from it, being on a train or a rugby match where people are a bit drunk can be a bit annoying but the rest of the time I love it.”
