There’s a reason sex in your 50s is great, you don’t have to give up intimacy as you get older, says Davina McCall
DAVINA McCALL says she is at the perfect stage of life to relight the flames of passion — as there are no kids around.
The presenter of My Mum, Your Dad can make the most of her three children having flown the nest.
Davina, 55, who is hosting the new ITV dating show for parents of a certain age, has told hopefuls they have nothing to worry about in the bedroom.
She said: “What I like about the show is it’s a nice reminder to society that you don’t give up on intimacy and sex when you’re in your forties, fifties and sixties.
“Actually, they could be the sexiest time of your life, when the baggage of kids is gone, they’ve all flown the nest, and you can actually go for it again!
“It’s such a funny time, isn’t it, when you’ve got kids?

"It’s like, ‘Shh. Oh my Gosh, they could walk in at any moment’.
"Look, it’s worth putting a lock on your door, because they just walk in, and that’s unsexy in itself, thinking a kid’s going to walk in.
“So when you do have time to yourself and they are around less, that is an amazing time to try to rekindle something.”
My Mum, Your Dad follows a group of single parents who have been nominated by their grown-up kids for a second chance at love.

Davina said: “We have all these amazing dates.
"We are talking helicopter rides, boat rides . . . romance galore.
“One gentleman had been practising kissing on the back of his hand because he hadn’t kissed anyone for a while, and was really nervous.
“He’d got really smitten with one particular lady, and she was really smitten with him.
“While on their date, they have a glass of champagne and he says, ‘I’d like to propose a toast’, and she said, ‘What are we toasting’
"He said, ‘Our first kiss.’
“All of us had our hands over our mouths, we were so excited. It was amazing. I’ve never been so excited about a kiss in my whole life.”
IT’S A HOT BATH FOR DATERS
DATING shows do not always spell success for singletons.
But host Fred Sirieix has revealed that TV hit series First Dates was a winner for one couple at least – after he caught them looking very cosy the morning after their night before.
The romance hopefuls met on the Channel 4 show, which has moved to a glamorous new location in Bath, before checking into a hotel for a night of passion.
Fred said: “I was in a hotel while I was staying in Bath and, in the morning when I got up to have my breakfast, there was a couple who were there who were in the First Dates restaurant.
“He had a room and she joined him in the hotel and I saw them at breakfast.
“I saw them. Her hair was still wet and they both had that glow . . . you know, that bedroom glow, to them. So it works.”
The start date for its 21st series has yet to be announced.

He has even compiled a list of animals he would feature after travelling to the Bahamas for his latest CBBC job, Deadly Mission Shark.

The first instalment, which was screened last year, led to a Bafta for Lenny Rush, who plays Daisy May’s son Ollie in the show, as well as three other nominations.
Series two is due on BBC One in 2024.
