Fate of beloved BBC One crime show revealed after decades on screen
THE future of a beloved BBC One crime show has been revealed after decades on screens.
No one could have predicted that the factual programme, which aired in 1984, would wind up having a role in solving some of the most heinous murders in British history.
Child killers and serial rapists have been caught as a result of the show's appeals, but TV bosses axed the crime reconstruction series in 2017.
But now, the BBC have announced the return of Crime Watch.
The popular crime show will premiere on BBC One on October 2nd at 10 a.m.
Presenters, Rav Wilding and Michelle Ackerley will help the crimefighters crack some of the UK’s biggest unsolved cases.
Broadcasting live over three weeks, each new episode will feature a reconstruction appeal film, "Wanted Faces" and shine a light on the dedicated teams bringing criminals to justice.
From high profile murder cases, robberies to assaults, the series will focus on recent nationwide crimes as well as update viewers on crimes that have featured throughout the current series and past ones.
Crimewatch Live will once again appeal to viewers to help the Police to solve dozens of cases.
Crimewatch shared that in the last year, their appeals have led to significant developments on multiple cases for Police and led to arrests and charges.

Some of the episodes will look at the remarkable police effort that has gone into solving some of the country's most serious crimes.
Presenter Rav said: “I’m really looking forward to another series of Crimewatch Live and working not only with Police and other law enforcement agencies, but also the biggest crime fighting
team anyone could wish for, which is of course the amazing audience to try and solve a huge variety of serious crimes."
Michelle added: "I’m very excited to be working on this year’s series of Crimewatch Live. Each year we work closely with police forces, helping to crack down on crime by broadcasting appeals from across the UK.
"Having the opportunity to go behind the scenes with some of the UK’s most respected emergency service teams is a real privilege.”
Audiences can contact the show by phoning 08000 468 999, with the phone lines remaining open until 12:30 pm on the morning of the programme.
The series will also be available to watch on BBC iPlayer for 7 days after.
