EASTENDERS is one of the country's most-loved soaps, so it's no wonder our biggest stars have wanted a piece of the action.

Here, we run down some of the programme's biggest cameos over 38 years - from Boris Johnson to Amanda Holden and David Walliams.

Boris Johnson

Boris appeared on the show in October 2009 in a rare acting role - as himself - opposite Albert Square legend Peggy Mitchell.

However, when he did make it through the doors of the famous boozer she was nothing but sweetness and light.

Peggy welcomed him, saying: "It's such an honour to have you here, Mr Mayor," to which he replied: "Oh please, call me Boris."

Pointing at the pint of bitter he ordered, she said: "Lucky for me your bike got a puncture. Now, would you like a top up?"

When he declined, she went on: "Oh I do so admire a man who devotes his life to serving society. I nearly went into politics myself, you know."

Reaching into his pocket, Boris replied: "Really? Well if you have any ideas for how I could help Walford, here's my card."

She told him: "Oh, I wouldn't dream of telling the Mayor of London what to do. Thank you so much."

Amanda Holden

Amanda's first job after drama school was a stint on EastEnders.

The Heart FM presenter reminisced on her experience while speaking with her co-hosts Jamie Theakston and Ashley Roberts in 2020.

Amanda even claimed she rubbed shoulders with the likes of Ian Beale while manning a stall in Walford.

The Britain's Got Talent judge said: "I had to look after someone's stall for half an hour which was like four episodes or something.

"Ian Beale, I looked after a jewellery stall and he had his fruit and veg, there was a lot of messing around with rude fruit, that's all I'm going to say.

"I had a lot of fun, it was a nice show to do."

David Walliams

David dropped by for Christmas Day in 2003, when Kat and Alfie Moon were getting married.

The children's writer played Ray, a fake registrar hired because Alfie’s divorce hadn’t been finalised yet.

As expected, the truth came to light and the ceremony was swiftly cut short.

There might not be any footage of David's gig online, but there are some images online of him in action.

Nick Grimshaw

Nick took up a soap-bombing challenge when he was the Radio 1 Breakfast Show host.

He hilariously appeared as a caretaker in the background of a 2013 episode.

The TV personality walked through an OAP Christmas party behind Patrick Trueman and Cora Cross.

Nick went on to secure cameos on Corrie, Emmerdale, Hollyoaks - and even Home and Away.
