Emmerdale’s Samantha Giles updates fans on exciting new role amid rumoured soap exit
SOAP star Samantha Giles has given fans a peak into the exciting new role she is working on - and it might not be what people expect.
The actress behind Emmerdale's feisty Bernice Blackstock has taken on a project that will see her playing a character who is a far cry from the beloved barmaid.
Samantha, 52, shared that she has been cast as the wicked stepmother in a Bradford Cinderella panto.
In the reveal photo she posted on Instagram, Samantha can be seen jokingly covering the faces of her co-stars on the Cinderella poster.
The actress was kitted out in black from head to toe, exactly as you would expect a panto villain to be.
She wore a theatrical hat with a black feather, black gloves, and a black coat as she posed for the behind-the-scenes snap.

Emmerdale lovers were quick to praise her new role, with some supportive fans saying they would buy tickets for the show.
One joked: "Where will it be? And can I come backstage afterwards? X"
Another added: "Looking forward to seeing you in panto!"
A third gushed: "I know that this performance is going to be an absolute delight. Since my children were little we have travelled to Bradford every year to see the panto.
"It’s quite a distance for us but the Alhambra holds such memories and Billy is absolutely AMAZING. I’m sure you will have a right laugh together."
This comes after the Sun revealed that Samantha has called time on acting in Emmerdale after 25 years of pulling pints at The Woolpack.
It will be the fourth time the actress has quit the Dales since she started playing Bernice in 1998.
A source said: "Bernice Blackstock has been in and out of Emmerdale village more than they change the barrels at The Woolpack.
"She’s always welcomed back with open arms by ITV and fans alike, but it’s now becoming a bit of a running joke.
"It wouldn’t pay to bet on whether Samantha will one day be back, but for now she will leave the soap later this year."
