Who will take the crown on this year's series of Dancing On Ice?

DANCING ON ICE has signed up a variety of stars for the 2024 edition of the skating competition.

ITV has attracted a diverse cast of sport legends and reality TV stars - and even a 90s pop icon - to take part in the popular television show, hosted by Stephen Mulhern and Holly Willoughby.

Ricky Hatton

He is best known for being a world champion boxer - but how will Ricky Hatton fare swapping the ring for an ice rink?

The 44-year-old isn't afraid of a challenge and was the first celebrity to be announced for the new series.

Ahead of his debut on the show, the sportsman said: "If I can hold my nerve in the boxing ring I should be able to hold my nerve in the ice rink.

"I like setting new challenges and keeping myself busy!"

Hannah Spearritt

Fans were left gutted when it was revealed Hannah Spearritt wouldn't be joining S Club 7 on tour, so no doubt they will be glad to have her back on their TV screens.

The 90s pop star suffered heartache following the sudden death of her ex-boyfriend and bandmate Paul Cattermole in April 2023.

But the star has kept herself busy by focusing on learning how to skate in front of millions.

"I'm really excited about learning a new skill," she said ahead of Dancing On Ice's return.

"It's so easy to live your comfortable life and that aspect of mixing things up is very appealing.  

"Fitness is another reason why I’m doing it! It's really exciting.”  

She's following in the footsteps of her S Club co-star Rachel Stevens, who was third to be eliminated from the competition in 2022.

Claire Sweeney

Actress Claire Sweeney is just one of this year's soap stars who will work to secure viewers' votes to stay in the competition.

She has been on telly for more than three decades after starting her career in Brookside.

Claire recently returned to the soap world, joining Coronation Street as Cassandra Plummer who is Tyrone Dobbs' biological mum.

Single mum Claire has said she signed up for doing Dancing On Ice for her eight-year-old son.

She said: "I'm really looking forward to going to an ice rink with my son and actually being able to skate and not have to use the penguins they give you to help you stay upright!" 

Ricky Norwood

Norwood was axed from EastEnders in 2015 after a controversial video of him was leaked online.

But now, after spiralling into depression and disappearing from the industry, Ricky is making a return to TV on Dancing On Ice.

Ahead of his debut on the skating rink, he said: "I'm apprehensive about the lifts, especially the headbanger.

"I've got to trust in the process, trust in the training, trust in the trainers.”

Ricky played Arthur "Fatboy" Chubb on EastEnders but was dramatically killed off in a car crash in 2015.

Lou Sanders

Comedian and writer Lou Sanders was the eighth celebrity confirmed to be taking part in the 2024 series of Dancing on Ice.

She has said the competition is her "dream thing to do".

Revealing the news of her spot on the cast to Nihal Arthanayake on Radio Five Live, Lou said: "I'm nervous about cracking my head open, or just bashing the old head.

"I can't afford to lose any more brain cells. 

She added: "I'm also worried about my partner picking me up, he's going to have to be very strong and very brave.”

Lou is best known for appearing on shows including Mock The Week and 8 Out Of 10 Cats Does Countdown.

Long jump star Greg Rutherford - who won gold in 2020 - is hoping to impress his three children with his Dancing On Ice appearance.

Ahead of his debut on the series the athlete excitedly told fans he was aiming to perform a trick that's "never been done before" on the show.

Greg said: "My kids love dancing around so hopefully they are going to enjoy watching me dance with blades on my feet!

"I think this is going to be a really different experience but one that will be quite exciting.

"I like a challenge and I needed a reason to go out and do stuff again and here we are.

"I want to perform something that's never been done before, that's my aim.

"I'll go 100,000% on this. I'll try hard, I'm in no way expecting to be good but I will work as hard as I can."

Self-confessed adrenaline-junkie Amber Davies is taking a break from entertaining theatre-goers to star in Dancing On Ice.

The former Love Island winner has fulfilled her dream of becoming an actress and has worked with country music legend Dolly Parton and played Vivian Ward in Pretty Woman: The Musical.

Announcing the news of her casting on Dancing On Ice, Amber said: “I would definitely say that I'm an adrenaline junkie but I do get more nervous as I get older and I hope that I can contain them, I don't want the adrenaline to get the better of me."

She added: "I can count on one hand how many times I've ice skated."

Miles Nazaire

Made in Chelsea heartbreaker Miles Nazaire has the chance to show off a new side to himself with his slot on Dancing On Ice's 2024 line-up.

The reality star has shared his hopes for his latest adventure, saying: "I've always loved to dance, but it's usually on a dance floor on a Saturday night and Dancing On Ice looks so difficult.

"I keep thinking about how I'm going to need to have rhythm while balancing on a thin blade and that's when I feel the nerves kick in."

He added: "But this is such an unbelievable opportunity to get totally out of my comfort zone."

Adele Roberts

Radio 1 DJ Adele Roberts faced the biggest challenge of her life when she was diagnosed with bowel cancer in 2022.

Now the host is celebrating her survival by signing up to Dancing on Ice.

Adele has said she is "very lucky" to be "fit enough and well enough to do it" but joked: "It's 'bricking it on ice' for me!"

The former I'm A Celebrity star added: "I think the hardest part is putting myself out there as I usually hide away. 

"I did radio as it's not visual. That’s going to be a big challenge. 

"After cancer I have my life back; I actually can’t wait for the glam!"

Roxy Shahidi

Soap star Roxy Shahidi, who has played Leyla Harding in Emmerdale since 2008, was the twelfth star confirmed for Dancing On Ice 2024.

Following the announcement, a source close to the actress - who is also a qualified yoga instructor - told The Sun that ITV believe she is the "perfect choice" for the competition.

The source explained: "ITV always want their big soap stars on Dancing On Ice, and Roxy is who they are after from Emmerdale this year.

"She's the perfect choice - she’s been in the soap on and off for 15 years, so she is very familiar to audiences who already have a connection with her, and she's absolutely stunning to boot, which always helps."

Ryan Thomas

Coronation Street's Ryan Thomas completes the line-upCredit: Rex

Former Coronation Street legend Ryan Thomas was one of the final names confirmed for the Dancing On Ice line-up for 2024.

The star, who is engaged to former TOWIE favourite, Lucy Mecklenburgh, and left his soap role as Jason Grimshaw in 2016.

He follows somewhat in the footsteps of his brother Adam, who showed off his own moves on the 2023 series of Strictly Come Dancing.

A source said of Ryan joining the show: "He has a big personality so will make cracking reality TV.

"Ryan is looking forward to the challenge of doing something different."

Eddie the Eagle

Eddie "The Eagle" Edwards joined the cast of Dancing On Ice after Gogglebox star Stephen Lustig-Webb had to withdraw from the show due to an injury he sustained during training.  

Following the news of his casting, ski jumper and Olympian Eddie said: "It's bittersweet as whilst I'm delighted to be taking part in the new series I'm gutted for Stephen and wish him a speedy recovery.

"Dancing On Ice is a show I've always wanted to do.
