This Morning fans call for new duo to take over from Holly Willoughby saying iconic ITV stars would ‘save the show’

THIS Morning fans have tipped one telly duo to "save" the show following Holly Willoughby's dramatic departure.

Holly, 42, shocked viewers this week when she suddenly announced she was quitting This Morning after 14 years.

The ITV show already has a roster of presenters, who have been appearing alongside Holly since Phillip Schofield's exit earlier this year.

But with the main anchor now gone, some fans think there is only two people who can pull ratings back up - Emma Willis and Rylan Clark.

The pair have both presented This Morning together in the past and were well-loved for their previous partnership on Big Brother.

Earlier this year, they trekked the Scottish Highlands together with ex Strictly pro Oti Mabuse for Comic Relief.

Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, in the wake of Holly's departure, one fan shared a photo of Emma, 47, and Rylan, 34, standing next to each other on the This Morning set.

The poster simply wrote: "They’re waiting. #ThisMorning."

Another replied: "This duo would actually save This Morning."

A third said: "Yes @EmmaWillis and @Rylan they would be brilliant together, hope your watching #ThisMorning."

And a fourth added: "Rylan and Emma ...omg yes yes yes!!!"

Someone else even declared: "I would actually watch This Morning if these two hosted!"

Holly made the shock announcement that she was leaving This Morning with immediate effect on Tuesday night.

The star said in a lengthy statement on Instagram that she was making the decision to walk away "for me and my family".

Holly also bid a sad farewell to This Morning's army of viewers.

The mum-of-three wrote: "I have let ITV know today that after 14 years, I will not be returning to This Morning.

"To everyone who has ever worked on the show over the years, thank you so so much..

"This is such a difficult goodbye, you are incredible and I forever will be proud of what we've done together.

"Thank you to everyone at ITV for being supportive. To every guest who has sat on our sofa, thank you.

"Most of all, thank you to the wonderful viewers. You've been so loyal so supportive and the very best company every day."

Mentioning This Morning's original hosts, Holly continued: "Richard and Judy said 'we only look after this show, it will always belong to the viewers'.

"It's been an honour to just be part of its story and I know this story has many chapters left to go.
