Known for its tongue-in-cheek look at the week’s news and current affairs, the panel show is known for having its rather chaotic and feather-ruffling moments.

Bill stepped into the hosting seat this week but found himself falling out of it rather quickly as he took a tumble on the programme.

Amid chaos which saw his parading around the BBC One show’s set playing some bagpipes, Bill made a return to his chair but quickly ended up on the floor.

The star collapsed out of the seat as he leaned over to put his bagpipes down.

All of a sudden, both he and the chair were out of shot as he took the tumble as his co-stars gasped before quickly laughing at the embarrassing incident.

They were left placing their heads on the desk in front of them in amusement as Bill quickly got back up.

He could be heard shouting to the laughing audience: “I’m fine, I’m fine!”

Bill then stood up to re-steady the chair as he joked: “It’s really good for your health.”

The moment threw Bill off track as he continued to laugh before looking around the studio and asking: “Yes… what we’re we talking about?”

His comment sent another flurry of laughter around the set before he continued on with the show.

Fans were left thoroughly impressed with Bill and his hosting stint as they took to X – formerly Twitter – to share their thoughts.

One viewer said: “Bill Bailey was a great host and absolutely nailed it.”

Another added: “Absolutely brilliant show tonight! Much shrieking with laughter in our house.”

A third penned: “@BillBailey is simply the greatest entertainer we have ever had.”

Before a fourth wrote: “Love Bill Bailey. Never fails to bring a smile.”
