Strictly thrown into chaos as Adam Thomas’s live performance ‘hangs in the balance’ as BBC put emergency plan in place

ADAM Thomas' performance on tonight's Strictly Come Dancing is 'hanging in the balance, after the star fell ill.

Panicked BBC bosses have drawn up an emergency contingency plan after he was forced to pull out of a TV appearance just hours before the live show.

Concern was first raised last night when his pro partner Luba Mushtuk was forced to appear on It Takes Two on her own after Adam fell sick for a second time in two weeks.

"He is resting now," said Luba. "He didn't feel very well."

And while Luba insisted last night that "everything will be fine" for the live show, he is still not confirmed to appear this evening.

A spokesperson told : “We are hopeful Adam will be better and able to perform this weekend. There are contingencies in place should he not be able to. The health and well-being of the Strictly cast and crew is production’s absolute priority.”

The pair are set to perform an American Foxtrot on this weekend's live show.

Adam first fell ill last week and was banned from rehearsing, as bosses raced to stop the winter flu from spreading amongst their cast.

The celebrities and their pro partners were warned to take all measures to stay in fighting form – even if it meant missing precious rehearsal time.

Adam, 35, had been forced to sit out training with Luba after struggling with illness, but managed to perform on last Saturday night's show.

It’s been a difficult time for the former soap star, who has revealed he has been missing his wife-of-six years Caroline as he juggles Strictly with filming for Waterloo Road.

Speaking to The Sun, Adam said: “Absence definitely makes the heart grow fonder because I’m constantly ringing her going, ‘God, I love you so much’.

“She just rang me, crying, going, ‘You don’t know how much it means’.
