Emmerdale fans sickened as Tom King’s dark secret revealed in harrowing Belle Dingle flashback
He wailed: "Why would you ever want to marry me now? I need you to know how much I love you."
EMMERDALE fans have been left sickened after Tom King’s dark secret was revealed in a harrowing Belle Dingle flashback.
The character’s behaviour has raised suspicion among viewers of the ITV soap for a number of weeks now.
Tom – played by James Chase – failed to tell girlfriend Belle that his mum had died, and then pushed her away when she tried to get him to open up.
In tonight’s episode, Tom didn’t just verbally push her away, but physically too.
The incident occurred during a flashback scene, as Belle told the rest of the Dingle family where she was at the time that Lydia Dingle’s rapist Craig Reed was killed.
Tom had surprised Belle by proposing, but she didn’t feel like the timing was right for them considering what was going on with Lydia and the fact they had only just moved in together.
While Belle claimed to her family that Tom had taken her comments well, the reality was very different.
At their home, Tom spiralled over the fact Belle hadn’t said an immediate yes, while she pleaded with him to calm down.
As he turned to walk away, she reached for his arm, but he flung her off and then pushed her, shouting: “Just leave me alone!”
Belle fell to the floor and hit the side of her head on the coffee table, and as she sat up stunned, blood was pouring from the wound.
The pair were shocked, before Tom started to apologise saying: “I was too busy thinking about myself, I shouldn’t have pushed you like that.”
A dazed Belle said she was “fine” and that she “wasn’t scared of him” but she was clearly shaken.
He wailed: “Why would you ever want to marry me now? I need you to know how much I love you.”
Belle replied: “Yeah I don’t think you’d have proposed if you didn’t.”
Tom begged her for another chance and said it would never happen again, before collapsing into tears on her lap.
But Emmerdale viewers weren’t so sure, and immediately took to X – formerly Twitter – to discuss Tom’s latest behaviour.
One wrote: “Tom like father like son.”
Another added: “Poor Belle. Tom’s not right in the head.”
A third tweeted: “Tom pushing Belle should be a screaming red flag for her!”
Emmerdale airs on ITV1 and is available on ITVX.
