A Place in the Sun announces huge change to show in landmark first after whopping 22 years on screens

A PLACE in the Sun show bosses have announced an exciting new spin-off show for the first time.

In the original Channel 4 show show hosts are tasked with finding the perfect home in a sunny country for Brits looking to move abroad.

Now 22 years on from the reality programme kicking off, presenters will check in on the families who have relocated.

Two seasons of the spin-off show have already been commissioned, and it will be called A Place in the Sun What Happened Next?

The property experts paying a visit to previous participants on the show include audience favourites such as Laura Hamilton, Jean Johansson, and Danni Menzies.

Amanda Lamb will also make a reappearance as she pops in on Mike and Fiona from Derbyshire who she helped find a holiday home in France.

Curious viewers will get a glimpse of what life is like in warmer climates, and see whether those who made the big move are happy with their dream homes.

Some of the former house-hunters have been relaxing in the sun, enjoying a slower pace of life and the health benefits of extra vitamin D.

Others even found love in their brand new life abroad.

Meanwhile some people have been busy in a flurry of activity renovating their properties to be more eco-friendly or turning them into B&Bs.

The show's executive producer Michelle Heeley told : "It’s been wonderful to re-visit these house-hunters who are thriving in their new homes in the sun.

"We are immensely proud to have helped change so many people's lives. It’s a testament to all the hard work our production team and presenters have put in over the past 23 years. I can’t wait for viewers to see what happens next."

Channel 4's Jo Street added: "A Place in the Sun is such a beloved show, and we know the audience really cares what happens to the house-hunters once the cameras leave. What a treat to catch up and see what happened when that offer was finally accepted."
