Josie Gibson opens up on emotional farewell to five year old son Reggie just days after breaking down over separation

JOSIE Gibson has revealed how tough it was to leave her son Reggie behind while she heads to the jungle.

The 38-year-old previously struggled to talk about spending time away from her five year old as she landed in Australia for I’m A Celebrity, and she fought back tears after having to say goodbye.

The schoolboy is staying with Josie’s family initially then will be part of the group that flies out to Australia midway through the series’ run.

But Josie has prepared him for their time apart – and is already looking forward to cuddles when they reunite.

The This Morning star told The Sun:  “I’ve done him a lot of videos before I left and also I’ve explained everything that I possibly can to him ever since I signed up.

“So, each morning we’ve been waking up and he says ‘mummy are we going to Australia now?’ And I go ‘not yet Reg’ and he’s going ‘when are we going into the jungle?’

“So none of it has come as a shock to him, he’s got his head around it.

“When he comes over he’ll be going to wildlife sanctuaries and learning all about Australia.

“They’re gonna go and cuddle koalas and they’ll be coming into the jungle with ITV’s brilliant family and friends team.”

She added: “There’ll be plenty of cuddles when I come out and at the end of the day this will better me and Reg and it’s all going to be good.

“He’s going to be experiencing Australia while I’m going to be tucking down on mealworms.”

Josie was previously asked what she will miss most in the jungle and she admitted: “Obviously my little boy, it was really emotional saying goodbye. I can’t talk about it, it’s too emotional.”

The former Big Brother star is incredibly close to her son Reggie, who she shares with ex boyfriend Terry.
