FOLLOWING last night’s episode of Emmerdale, fans of the soap took to social media to call out Kim Tate’s public phone call blunder.
Caleb Miligan was listening in to her call, which has only made him more suspicious of her.
Kim, played by Claire King, and Caleb, portrayed by Waterloo Road alum Will Ash, had a series of tense run-ins during last night’s episode of the soap. During one, he sees her riding her horse and even queries if it was the horse that killed Craig Reed.
Viewers will recall that Ben Addis’ character Craig recently died under mysterious circumstances, shortly after he raped Lydia Dingle (Karen Blick). Every member of the Dingle family became a suspect in the murder, but it was later revealed that Kim was the real culprit as her horse kicked Craig in the face and instead of phoning for an ambulance, she left him to die.
Later in the pub, Kim rants to her husband Will Taylor (Dean Andrews) about her conversations with Caleb.
“That man is the bane of my existence. The day I wipe that smug smile off his face is one I very much look forward to,” she moans.

But Will tries to set her straight. “You need to stay well clear of Caleb,” he replies.
When Kim fires back that she’s not afraid of him, Will still warns to steer clear.
Trying to calm her, he said: “If he had anything on you, he’d have used it by now. Let him rant and rave. Can’t find owt out if there’s nowt to find, can he?”
But this only agitates Kim more, and she gets up to make a phone call to Cain Dingle.

Standing outside the toilets in The Woolpack, she speaks to him on the phone, insisting they need to find a way to keep what happened to Craig a secret.
Afterward, Caleb emerges from the toilets and it was clear he was listening to the whole thing.
Following the scene, Emmerdale fans quickly took to X, formerly Twitter, to discuss why Kim would make such a public blunder.
“Why does everyone have incriminating conversations in the bloody Woolpack??!!!” one viewer asked.
“I thought Kim would be smarter than to talk to Cain in any way in public & for all the people to eavesdrop, it would be bloody Caleb!” said a second.
Another commented on the tried and tested plot device writing: “Employing the ‘eavesdropping in/near the Woolpack lavatories’ plot vehicle yet again.”
“Oh, come on, we both know Kim is never normally that stupid to make a phone call that incriminating in public,” said a fourth viewer.
A fifth agreed: “Kim isn’t stupid enough to talk to Cain within earshot of anyone who happens to be hanging around.”

Meanwhile, a sixth soap fan fumed: “Why don’t people in that village ever learn about private conversations in that corridor outside the pub toilets??!!”
Emmerdale continues on ITV tonight at 7:30pm.
