Gemma Atkinson hits back at mum-shamers after she’s trolled over weaning her baby son at four months
GEMMA Atkinson has been forced to hit back after being criticised for weaning her baby son at four months old.
The mum-of-two had told fans how she "knew" baby Thiago was ready for solid food because he was "draining his bottles", "puckering his lips" and "reaching out".
As a result, Gemma began feeding Thiago two bowls of baby porridge a day in addition to his usual bottles of milk two weeks ago.
But after sharing the milestone with her Instagram followers, Gemma was accused of "spreading misinformation to new mams".
Gemma, 39, received a message from someone who told her: "None of them are signs of readiness lovely.
"Signs of readiness are sitting up with no or little support, no tongue thrust and being able to put food up to their mouths themselves."

The critic then told Gemma to "look at the NHS website", adding: "Just really don't want you spreading misinformation to new mams."
After receiving the message, Gemma indignantly posted it onto her Instagram Stories before hitting back.
She wrote: "That's why I always say ppl should do their own research.
"I spoke with a private baby physio who told me that the sitting up with no support is down to a baby's weight & size, not food related at all, hence why they all do it at different stages.

"The sitting up for food is to reduce choking hazards."
Gemma then reassured the woman that she would not be "giving him breadsticks" just yet.
She was also quick to point out how the NHS changes its guidelines from time to time, adding: "I understand hospitals have policies they stick to but for me as a 2nd time mum I'm a lot more confident in my decisions for them. 100% each to their own though for sure xx."
Gemma has two children with her fiancé, Strictly Come Dancing professional Gorka Marquez.
They are parents to Thiago and daughter Mia, four.
This unfortunately is not the first time Gemma has been mum-shamed by trolls.
In October, she was criticised for letting Thiago nap on his front.
Gemma was also slammed in August for letting Mia watch CrossFit games on the telly.
The former Hollyoaks actress admitted she was "baffled" after it was suggested 'Mia should be watching children's TV instead' of looking up to inspiring female athletes.
