NETFLIX viewers have had their 'minds blown' by a 'bone-chilling' true crime doc about a 'monstrous' surgeon.
The three part disturbing series has left viewers gripped as it exposed Paolo Macchiarini.
The Italian surgeon is described as being "the biggest conman in medical history".
According to the doc, his actions on the operating table left some of his patients - who he treated as "human lab rats" - dead.
A synopsis for the series on Netflix teases: "Dr. Paolo Macchiarini is world-famous for his revolutionary stem cell-infused windpipe transplants.
"There’s just one problem: His patients keep dying."
Macchiarini was feted as a pioneering surgeon and lived the life of a Hollywood A-lister.
Flying around the world in private jets, he wooed influential women and claimed his client list included Bill and Hilary Clinton, then-president Barack Obama and the Pope.
The Italian medic - who claimed he could cure throat conditions using plastic tracheas - used the procedure on at least eight ‘guinea pig’ patients between 2011 and 2014, all but one of whom subsequently died.
Fellow surgeon Kalle Grinnemo recently told The Sun how he risked his own career to blow the whistle on the botched ops.
