Vigil viewers rage ‘defund the BBC!’ as new series branded ‘annoying dross’ that ‘never should’ve been made’
VIGIL viewers have been left fuming after watching the first episode of the new series.
The hit BBC One drama returned on Sunday night for its highly anticipated second series.
Viewers watched as Suranne Jones and Rose Leslie reprised their roles.
This time around both stars are very much above water, having spent the first series looking for a killer in a submarine.
DCI Amy Silva and her partner DI Kirsten Longacre were called up to investigate a drone attack on the RAF.
Seven soldiers were left dead after a weapon drone exercise at the Scottish military base in Dundair went terribly wrong when an unknown party took control of the object.

However, fans of the show were left unimpressed with 'unrealistic' plot and slammed the series on social media.
One said: "Too much BBC virtue signalling and inaccuracies in #Vigil, became too annoying. Series link cancelled."
A second posted: "Should have left it as one off stand out series no need do another series!!!! Like a poor sequel to a great movie just isn't great. #Vigil some dramas fine as one off memorable hits! @BBC."
"#Vigil new drama on #bbc & blow me down it's more overwrought dross; the #lidl drones were funny though #defundthebbc," said a third.

While a fourth commented: "#BBC on #Vigil proving that they can not only get naval uniforms and rank insignia wrong in series 1 they can also get it completely wrong for the RAF in series 2 as well!"
But some fans have been gripped by the series and posted their joy at its return.
One wrote: "Series 2 of #Vigil is good. Annoyed I have to wait till next week for more."
Another said: "Thought #Vigil was quite good, so far. Ticked some boxes - terrorism, drones, perfidious Albion - and some nice moments of tension."
"This is as good as the first season," said a third.
Meanwhile, fans had already called Vigil out for the violent scenes in the same episode.
Vigil continues on BBC One and iPlayer.
