Huge 90s pop star joins BBC New Year’s Eve show as line-up for pre-fireworks epic fronted by Rylan Clark is revealed
It's going to be a night of music on BBC One and Two - with a movie over on ITV1
CHRISTMAS is over but already people are looking forward to New Year’s Eve – with a line-up of stars signed up to see in 2024 on the BBC.
Rylan Clark is set to host a show featuring two musical legends, a choir and live coverage of the London fireworks at midnight.
Rick Astley Rocks New Year’s Eve will be broadcast from the Roundhouse in North London.
Alongside the Never Gonna Give You Up singer, 57, who is performing a selection of his hits as well as present-day favourites, will be Texas legend Sharleen Spiteri.
The 56-year-old star is famous for songs including Inner Smile and I Don’t Want a Lover.
Rylan Clark, 35, will host the BBC One show, which also features the House Gospel Choir.
The musical special kicks off at 11.30pm before taking a break at midnight to show live footage of the London fireworks and Big Ben chiming in the new year.
The action returns to the Roundhouse at 10 minutes past midnight for another half an hour, before a recording of Elton John‘s Glastonbury set at 12.40am.
There’s music on BBC Two also, with Jools Holland welcoming Rod Stewart and the Sugababes to his Hootenanny show.
Over on ITV, the main channel will be showing Bond movie No Time To Die followed by an ITV News special featuring the fireworks.
BBC One will also be airing a special New Year’s Eve edition of The Graham Norton Show, looking back at 2023.
His guests include Emma Stone and Mark Ruffalo, Strictly host Claudia Winkleman, chef Nadiya Hussain and TV star Rob Brydon, plus music from Ezra Collective.
