A huge sum of cash is at stake in the first mission of the series
TREACHEROUS game show The Traitors returns tonight as another batch of contestants look to deceive one another to win a huge cash prize.
In a first look at the launch show, host Claudia Winkleman greets the 22 new hopefuls in the Scottish Highlands and immediately reveals a huge twist.

She tells them: "This year, you're not just playing for money, you're playing for your lives."
The announcement is met with gasps and worried looks, before Claudia introduces them to a golden shield.
She says: "This, players, is a shield. Three of you can win one of these in this mission. There are two in the loch and one on land. This protects you from being murdered and by the Traitors, but it does not protect you from banishment.
"Basically, you've got to think what's more important: your money or your life."

Backstabbing and deception aren't far away when Claudia secretly assigns the Traitors and gives them their first mission.
Under the cover of darkness, they must pick off their fellow players one by one, murdering them from the game.
Meanwhile the Faithful players need to work out the Traitors' identities and banish them before they claim a victim.
There's more than pride at stake, with the Faithful vying to add £15,000 to the prize pot.
