Coronation Street legend sparks rumours she’s joining rival soap with seriously cryptic comment

The star hasn't been seen on the cobbles for almost four years

CORONATION Street legend Beverley Callard has sparked speculation that she is set to join a rival soap after a very telling comment.

The actress is famed for her role as iconic Rovers landlady Liz McDonald.

Having played the role for over 20 years, Beverley was last seen on the cobbles in 2020 after deciding to quit for good.

However, it seems that the star has been weighing up other project with a rival soap at the forefront of her mind.

Beverley had made a cryptic comment that a move to BBC soap opera EastEnders could be on the horizon.

The former Coronation Street actress expressed her interest in joining the programme during a fan exchange on X - formerly Twitter.

One fan wrote: "Isn't it about time EastEnders introduced a Long lost Mitchell or Slater or Carter sister/aunt?!" 

Beverley then replied: "Love that idea X"

It came just moments after she tweeted EastEnders scriptwriter Daran Little to say she would "kill" to have a script written by him.

Daran had previously worked with Beverley on the Corrie cobbles.

He went on to reply that he had recently "dreamt" he was writing for the star adding even more fuel to the fire.

Not done there, Beverley appeared to be hellbent on landing a role in Walford as another fan suggested: "Well Kathy Beale's apparently got a sister we've never seen, sure @DaranLittle would create an incredible character."

The actress then said: "What do you think Daran? That would be fab X."

Beverley went on to reply to even more fans to say she was "loving" the thought of heading to EastEnders.

Having plenty of experience of running the bar in Weatherfield as Liz, is it only a matter of time until Bev turns up on Albert Square?
