X Factor star unrecognisable after post-show glow up as he gets engaged to celeb facialist in romantic proposal

X FACTOR legend Craig Colton looked worlds away from his time on the contest after it was revealed he was engaged to his long-term boyfriend.

Craig, 35, was part of the cast of the eighth series of the ITV contest in 2011 where he was mentored by Take That frontman Gary Barlow.

Now over twelve years on from impressing the judges and the British public, the singer has undergone somewhat of a transformation.

These days, Craig sports a load of facial hair and has also opted to ditch his signature fringe which he was remembered for on the show.

Craig often styles his hair back in a swooping quiff-style as part of his new trendy look.

Gone are the days of his boy-ish looks with the star also revealing that he had dropped four stone after following a healthy eating plan.

The popular contestant has also managed to settle down with the love of his life and asked him to marry him in a dreamy proposal.

Craig is engaged to Shane Cooper, a facialist and skin specialist to the stars.

He runs a popular clinic in London which is visited by a flurry of A-list faces.

Shane counts Girls Aloud singer Nicola Roberts and Love Island host Maya Jama among his celebrity best pals.

Craig proposed to Shane after the pair received couples massages during a luxury getaway and he made sure that everything was meticulously planned out with his new fiance writing on Instagram that Craig told him the event had been 11 months in the making.

Recoiling in the happy news, Shane wrote online: “I said YES! After the most incredible couples massage we head back to our villa where Craig proposed.

“After crying I said yes! Honestly this evening has been one of the most magical evenings.

“He said he has been planning this since February last year with @luxurytravelbysoni to create this magical evening.”

In a video to accompany the post, a flurry of petals could be seen scattered around as well as to create a heart design.

Candles were also lit with a bottle of champagne on ice ready to toast the engagement.

He then added: “The gorgeous villa decorated, the stunning watch, private chef, guitarist and a four course meal. I can’t put into words how much I adore and love him.”

Craig was just 22 years old when he participated in The X Factor.

He auditioned for the show singing the Adele song Hiding My Heart and eventually made it through to finish sixth in the contest.

The series went on to be won by Little Mix who beat Marcus Collins and Amelia Lily in the final.
