Chas Dingle was diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer in recent scenes of the ITV soap.

However, much like her mother Faith before her, she decided to keep her condition a secret until she felt ready to share it with her loved ones.

The long-standing Dales resident has been receiving support from one of her only confidantes in the village, Liam Cavanagh (Jonny McPherson).

Next week, the village GP tries to reassure Chas as the furtive pair talk about her prognosis and he tells her that informing her family is the best option.

A galvanised Chas soon agrees and she makes the decision to tell them - but there's one member of the Dingle clan that may be reluctant to open his heart to her.

Chas has had a complicated relationship with her son Aaron (Danny Miller) for several years and he even disowned her completely after finding out about her affair with Al Chapman.

Aaron blames his mother for the death of his sister Liv Flaherty as he believes Chas' affair triggered a chain of events that eventually led to the tragedy.

Later at the pub, as the family argue, Chas explains what is going on and everybody reels from the news.

The shocked yet supportive family gather around Chas except for Aaron who keeps his distance.

Chas’ heart breaks entirely when Aaron walks away, unable to show the extent of what he is truly feeling.

When Aaron intends to leave, Chas is heartbroken to realise their relationship may never be repaired.

While Chas may give up all hope to reconcile with Aaron, she has another child she needs to think about - her young daughter Eve.

In later scenes, Paddy Kirk (Dominic Brunt) joins forces with Chas as they decide on how best to let Eve know of her diagnosis.

They soon sit Eve down to gently explain the cancer - how will the young girl react?

Later on, siblings Cain (Jeff Hordley) and Chas get together and poignantly reflect on their lives.
