The Traitors thrown into chaos as producers forced to step in after contestant threatened to QUIT show
The murder-mystery game show is set to be given a major shake-up with a spin-off version
THE Traitors star Charlotte Chilton has revealed that she threatened to quit the show after things got too much for her.
The recruitment manager, 32, narrowly missed out on a spot in the final after she was booted out by the traitors at the round table.
Charlotte, who was one of the Faithfuls, said she began to “panic” about the prospect of being on TV in front of millions of viewers, before filming began.
The contestants said: “When you get told you’re going on it … I then went into panic and thought ‘oh reality television – it can go really bad. Like do I wanna do this?’
“I had cold feet and I was like ‘I don’t think I can do this. Like I’m really worried. I think I’m really boring. No one’s gonna like me’. All this stuff.
“And they were like ‘no, no, no – we really want you on it,” she told the .
Charlotte praised the producers for supporting her when she had her doubts and said it was the right decision to do the show because she left feeling “validated”.
She explained that she worked on herself a lot after battling with her self-confidence and thanked her fellow co-stars for making her feel welcome – describing them as a “family”.
The Traitors is now in its fourth week, with everyone trying to avoid being “murdered” or “banished”.
The remaining contestants are trying to work out who are The Faithful and who are The Traitors – but at the same time avoid being eliminated themselves.
With not long to go before the final, viewers will be delighted to know that the murder-mystery game show is to get a star-studded spin-off.
Producers can cherry-pick from a massive pool of famous faces who love the BBC show.
Among the names likely to be a target are Wagatha Christie rivals Coleen Rooney and Rebekah Vardy, cheating former Health Secretary Matt Hancock and outspoken Match of the Day host Gary Lineker.
A TV insider said: “Bosses want big names as the show is getting big viewing figures, and they know they’ll have plenty to choose from as The Traitors has huge fans within the showbiz world.
“But they also want stars who are likely to be great game-players and who have great survival skills, the ability to double-cross or a way of sniffing out a back-stabber.
“Rumours of a celebrity series have naturally swirled since The Traitors launched in 2022 and the show became an instant hit — but they have been unfounded gossip until now.”
