A Swedish teen drama it follows the love story between a fictional Prince of Sweden, Wilhelm, whilst at an elite private boarding school with fellow student, Simon.

The show first launched on Netflix in July 2021 and has developed a cult following since then.

Now, the show will release the first five episodes of its final season on March 11 before the final ever episode drops the week after, March 18.

Ever since its debut, the programme has continually ranked near the top of the Netflix ratings charts with the first season entering the top ten in twelve different countries and was streamed for more than 9.8 million hours across the globe.

The show is led by Swedish popstar and actor Omar Rudberg alongside fellow TV actor, Edvin Ryding.

In the programme, the teen couple deal with the news that a video of them having sex has been filmed and leaked with Wilhelm having to navigate his public and royal status around it.

A synopsis for the show's third season has appeared to suggest that Wilhelm will finally spill all to the press on the leaked video and deal with the reaction to Sweden finding out it is him.

It reads: "Wilhelm’s speech has consequences not only in the court but also throughout the school, as Hillerska confronts the worst crisis in the school’s history.

"The prince and Simon are determined to be together, but what are they willing to sacrifice when realising that their freedom and love might be at odds with the Royal ideals, traditions and responsibilities?”

The show's head writer, Lisa Ambjörn, admitted that she always viewed the teen love story as a 'three-parter' and that her planned ending had always been clear to her.

A hit with the critics, the show currently holds an impressive 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes.

Young Royals' third season premieres on Netflix on March 11.
