Now fans think the star's "scratchy" voice belongs to none other than British singer and musician , 58.

The pop star shot to fame a member of dance band S'Express during the early 90s, but achieved greater success as a solo artist with hits like It Feels So Good, I Put a Spell on You and Can't Make Up My Mind.

She also won the 2001 BRIT Award for British female solo artist.

One convinced viewer wrote: "I think Eiffel Tower is Sonique. Just putting that out there as not heard anyone say it but I've been thinking it since they first sang."

"This series is HARD. I still think Eiffel Tower might be Sonique and Air Fryer could be Kym Mazelle. Not a clue really on Owl," a second said.

A third simply guessed: "Sonique has to be Eiffel Tower."

Viewers have also recognised the voice as popular pop star Anastacia, 55.

Many thought the American singer-songewriter's voice fit the bill perfectly.

One wrote: "Reckon Eiffel Tower is Anastasia."

A second agreed and said: "Eiffel Tower sounds like Anastacia to me."

A second shared: "I said the same as Mo and thought Eiffel Tower sounded so like Gabrielle. The only other person that sounds like that to me is Anastacia."

Meanwhile, the character has left a series of clues.

A post from The Masked Singer's official Instagram page featured the character and the words: "Ooh la la, ooh, la la, mon chant etait tres bon [my song was very good], it may not have been Monty but it was def Python."

In the caption, the show teased: "Did you SNAIL this #EIFFELTOWER riddle?"

Further show hints have also linked to Sex and the City as well as Abbey Road and The Beatles.

It also sung out Voulez-Vouz by ABBA in the previous episode.
