Homes Under The Hammer’s Tommy Walsh, 67, reveals he has lung cancer – days after he’s axed from show

HOMES Under The Hammer star Tommy Walsh has revealed he has lung cancer.
The star shared his tough diagnosis days after being axed from Homes Under The Hammer in a show shake-up.

He made the announcement on stage at a conference of The Swallows Head & Neck Cancer charity, on November 27 last year.
A video of his presentation on YouTube shows the ex-Ground Force favourite revealing he had an emergency appointment with the hospital, after suffering with chest symptoms.
He said back in November: "'I have an emergency appointment at 9am tomorrow morning back in London.
"I had a chest infection, had to go to the doctor and they sent me up to hospital for a CT scan and they think there's a three centimetre tumour in the lung.

"I've tried to keep cheerful and you've cheered me up today, and thank you for letting me reminisce and talk.
"I was weighing up whether or not to tell you about this but I felt it would be unfair if I was to leave this and I didn't tell you.
"That's why I'm going to have to leave after this talk and I won't be able to join you for a few beers tonight.
"But I hope and I would be really pleased if you would have a few on my behalf and I'll keep my fingers crossed, and if you wouldn't mind, keep your fingers crossed for me."

The star has yet to share the results of his appointment.
Tommy is being replaced by TV weatherman Owain Wyn Evans on Homes Under The Hammer.
Former builder Tommy only joined the auction property series in 2021 alongside original presenter Martin Roberts, 60, plus Martel Maxwell, 46, and ex-footballer Dion Dublin, 54.
A year later, he revealed his secret throat cancer diagnosis — having had two benign lumps removed from his chest 20 years earlier.
He said at the Swallows conference: “I had to go in straight away and have surgery to remove it. I am now fully recovered and even back playing football!”
He was first diagnosed with cancer over twenty years ago, after finding two lumps on his chest.
He was fast tracked to see a consultant at The Royal London Hospital in Whitechapel, the same hospital where his sister had a lumpectomy to remove cancerous breast tissue.
He added on stage: "I just buried myself in my work and then went along for the day surgery where the lumps were removed under a general anaesthetic.
"It was only then that it sort of hit me that this could actually be serious and I could have breast cancer, like my relatives."
Tommy also revealed he had plenty of future projects "lined up" with the BBC and said he had been filming Clean it, Fix It! and Homes Under The Hammer weeks earlier.
He added: "So if I was thinking about retiring, I can think again."
Owain presented the weather on regional BBC shows for years and made his debut on BBC Breakfast in 2021, having reported for The One Show.
He now presents Radio 2’s Early Breakfast Show and last year raised more than £3million for Children In Need with his 24-hours drum-athon.
A source told The Sun: "Bosses wanted a makeover to keep younger viewers interested.

"They have been keen to get Owain onto one of their popular shows for a while — he will add a new dynamic.
"The upcoming series will feature both Tommy and Owain as there is a three-month lag with the house makeovers, so there is some crossover."
