BBC Breakfast fans gobsmacked as rarely seen Noughties pop star appears on show after quitting fame

Viewers celebrated the singer's appearance on the flagship breakfast show to promote his 20th anniversary tour

BBC BREAKFAST fans were left absolutely gobsmacked as a now rarely-seen Noughties pop star appeared on the sofa.

Daniel Bedingfield was on the programme to promote his new shows after he previously left the world of fame behind.

The 44-year-old singer - who is the elder brother of pop sensation Natasha Bedingfield - was welcomed onto the iconic red BBC Breakfast sofa by Charlie Stayt and Rachel Burden.

Rachel, 49, asked the star about his extended break away from the spotlight after his last appearance in the West End in 2016.

He proudly declared: "It was wonderful, nobody recognised me and I could just chill out and write songs, and farm! Learn languages.

When she later pressed the artist on what his life away from the industry entailed, he answered: "Chicken, bees and fruit trees, I'm a Kiwi! With my feet, take my shoes off!

He later took to social media to announce more details about his upcoming string of shows as he revelled in his TV experience.

The singer posted a behind-the-scenes snap onto his Twitter as he wrote: "Had a great time at @BBCBreakfast this morning to discuss my April UK tour." '

"I’m so excited to announce a run of UK shows this April to celebrate over 20 years of ‘Gotta Get Thru This'... Register now for pre-sale access via the link in my bio!"

Back in 2016, he told Lorraine that he was embracing a more holistic lifestyle.

He explained: "I've been there (in America) eight years, and I enjoy not being depressed.

"It's never grey, it rains eight days of the year, I just go to the beach every day, and do acrobatic yoga on the beach, it's like doing yoga poses on each other. Lift each other in the air. I giggle all the time.

"I do it every Sunday, I do it all the time. The acro community is growing! I'm not really doing much for myself, I'm enjoying being a human-being, its so fantastic." 

Fans couldn't help but flood the star with praise as they also celebrated his highly-anticipated return.
