THE latest series of Trigger Point kicked off with a bang as Vicky McClure got back into character with another terror alert on the horizon.

Amidst the chaos, Lana Washington (Vicky) was forced right into the heart of the action a day before she was due back when she was forced to deal with a shocking looming terror threat.

However, despite its action-packed first episode, not everyone was a fan of the opening to the second series.

Britain's first female bomb disposal expert Lucy Lewis was left rather underwhelmed by the portrayal of her job role in the show.

During her day-to-day role, she led teams to identify explosive devices and work to try and diffuse them.

Recalling that certain scenes left her aghast, Lucy told the : "There were times I spat my tea everywhere and threw things at the telly and started shouting because some details were horribly wrong, but they’re not allowed to put things that are more accurate."

Whilst the star admitted she was at first impressed that they had appeared to follow accurate details of the profession, it quickly changed when they reverted back and opted to use a digital clock in later episodes, something she revealed does not exist in the bomb disposal world.

Lucy said: "In the first episode they didn’t use a digital countdown clock or snipping red wire rubbish which I’ve seen on other movies and shows, and I thought 'thank God, at last'."

However, when the show began to start featuring it, she was let down, saying: "None of us have ever seen a digital countdown clock. It is just not a thing."

Overall, Lucy understood the need for accuracy and great television drama.

She added: "It is very difficult to get that drama across and there are some things that they’ve got completely wrong at times but it’s obvious they also don’t want to put in all the information.’

"It’s a very difficult job to be an advisor on some of these things (shows) because you’ve got this conflict between what’s good drama and what’s accurate."

In the opening episode of the show's second offering, Lana was giving a talk to security officers from top financial institutions about the challenges of terrorism involving bombs, a bomb attack suddenly struck the city centre.

But some fans were in agreement with Lucy as the show appeared to fail to hit the mark with them.

One person wrote on X - formerly Twitter: "Absolute s***e. Badly acted woke cr*p."

A second raged: "Trigger Point absolutely garbage totally over acted. One episode was enough."

Despite some negative opinions, others seemed impressed with the new series.

One wrote: "TriggerPoint New series and straight into the thick of it! Going to be a great series!!"
